"I'm just not a pink person..."

Rachel Richards

Over the last 12 months pink seems to have very, very slowly creeped back into my consciousness as a colour I could get excited about. I've always felt slightly anti pink; it feels so gender specific. Like the toys i grew up with in the 80s It always makes me think 'Barbie'! But suddenly its feeling new all sparkly new again and sophisticated enough for even a 'girl' my age (don't ask!). Its being re-claimed by feminist movements and its not just the Millennials colour of choice. Pink is for grown-ups too.

Yes, it was all over the catwalks but i'm no slave to fashion and neither are our customers. They're a stylish bunch with their own take on whats cool. However; inspired by some slightly fresher pink images posted onto The Wearer's Instagram page, by the time I opened the boutique nearly a year ago I had already embraced the power of pink in interiors and painted the walls a subtle shade of Farrow and Ball Calamine (this is Islington after all!). Beautifully greyed off it didn't feel overly sugary and coordinated with the inherited pink marble floors beautifully. Its had daily compliments ever since!

But could I be persuaded to wear pink? Turns out, if its attached to a piece of contemporary, directional jewellery then yes, I most definitely can. But just a hint or pop of pink for me. Its a trend you'd be hard pushed to ignore in SS17 and lets face it, piling on the pink is not for everyone.

Whether its part of the marble bead work, glass pearls, hand mixed jesmonite or pink coloured aluminium rings and hand dyed resin. Don't forget beautifully dipped rose gold, pink hued amethyst and chunky rose quartz. How about pink mirrored lenses and marbled acetate? When it comes to hand made jewellery from our amazing independent designers you'll find all these elements. So actually yes. Now i come to think about it turns out I am most definitely a pink person.
