The Wearer’s Guide to.... Multiple Ear Piercings.

You're never too old for this look. So i finally give in to the urge....

The ‘multi-piercing look that i have been coveting for the last few months. This is not my ear (yet!).

In my view the trend for multi-piercings in your ears transcends the ages and, worn in the right way, can look chic into your 30’s, 40’s, 50s and beyond.

At The Wearer we always support the idea that personal style has nothing to do with age but more about attitude, especially when it comes to jewellery. So you might not be up for rocking cur off shorts into your 40s or 50s  but its easy to express a more youthful vibe through your jewellery choice. Never one to hold back when it comes to jewellery I decided it was time to update my look.

10 studs? Yep, they look cool here but OUCH! One step at a time. I opted for 3 in one lobe to start with. This is NOT me!

Its fair to say its been a while since I had my ears pierced; more like 25 years! So the thought of hanging out on a Saturday at a certain well known high street accessories chain store with over excited teens wasn’t exactly filling me with joy! Call me a snob but I like my jewellery either exciting and edgy or a bit more high end. So with that in mind and a desire to finally give my earlobes a more eclectic vibe I headed to Extreme Needle in St Martins Court.

Situated next to everyones ‘posh’ fish bar J.Sheekey. Definitely more of the exciting and edgy vibe but then i’m a sucker for a tattoo studio. What is jewellery if it isn’t body adornment in the simplest form?!

It took me a while to stump up the courage in my teenage years to get the two obligatory holes so that when I finally got round to it I was by far the last of my friends and the danger element had somewhat worn off. By this stage most of them had already moved onto additional piercings. I hate to say it but I thought more than one in each ear was verging on chav. So now, on reaching my mid-thirties I have finally seen how multi-piercings can look sophisticated and edgy when decked with the right ear studs.

This blogger shows the way its done!!

So back in Extreme Needle; these guys know their way around a piercing and as I wanted a couple more in my lobes and also a cartilage piercing at the top I knew I was in safe hands. Raph was keen to explain to me exactly why theirtechnique is superior and more hygienic than anywhere else (specifically that high st store we mentioned earlier!). She was precise and had the new ‘holes’ aligned perfectly in the best positions. Everything checked and ready to go the whole procedure was painless and no piercing guns used (painful and unhygienic according to Raph) and not what i remember from my teens at all!

So, its now a three month wait until I can take out these Titanium studs and start rocking my new look. See the March Instagram posts for the finished result. Heres hoping Father Christmas gets me those studs i've been coveting.

More ways to wear multiple earring styles….for any age….!
